Ashikita Town, Kuma Village, and Hitoyoshi City in Kumamoto Prefecture, where we are providing support at this time, were hit by a record-breaking downpour on July 4, and a series of floods and landslides occurred one after the other.
In particular, the overflowing Kuma River, which runs through the southern part of Kumamoto Prefecture, has caused extensive damage to the surrounding areas.
As river water flowed into the town, cars were flooded and many houses were flooded up to the second floor, and 14 people were found in cardiac arrest at an elderly nursing home in Kuma Village.
In this area, there is an urgent need to restore supplies to enable living in shelters and to remove sludge and waste materials after the water recedes.
We would like to ask for your support for the earliest possible recovery!
